About Me
Hi! My name is Louise. I am a second year Applied Linguistics student at the University of Victoria. Though I am currently studying in Canada, I was born and raised in France. I come from a very small, rural town where the two most exiting things are the cows and a medieval castle.
I started learning English at around 11 years old and thanks to my best friend, who was Scottish, rapidly became fluent. As I acquired this second language, I also developed an interest in Linguistics. I decided very early on that I would study this field. Applied Linguistics focusses on all the applications that linguistics can have, including in the classroom, which is what I want to study most. The ways in which a person acquires an additional language and the role that instruction can have in the process is what drove me to EDCI 335. I wanted to gain the tools to design approachable and interactive learning experiences around language learning.
